Currently, DCA Farma, together with the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), is conducting research on an Investigational Medicinal Product intended for the treatment of Glioblastoma, financed under the application registration No. 02-014-K-0036, submitted on July 19, 2023.

The project "Development of an Innovative Medicinal Product" is funded by the European Union for the period 2021–2027 under the Progress Measure No. 05-001-01-05-07 "Establish a coherent system for promoting innovation activities", activity "Promote innovation supply", and sub-activity "Invest in the development of new R&D products and create conditions for researchers to participate in companies' R&D activities, promote intellectual property, early-stage pilot production, and market preparation of newly developed products" (Central and Western Lithuania region).

Project Objective

To compare the effect of the VPA–DCA combination on the expression of apoptosis- and cell death–related genes in primary glioblastoma (GB) patient cells with that of Temozolomide, in order to clarify the importance of individualized efficacy studies prior to initiating chemotherapy. It is known that primary (GB) resistance to Temozolomide reaches 50–55% of patients. The five-year survival rate for GB is only about 5%, therefore it is essential to search for more effective and safer new treatment strategies.
